Master diamond setter

Trained in micro setting for jewellery houses internationally. The setting is where a stone becomes the centre of a piece — everything is done in-house, by hand, by Ian.

By appointment

The workshop is private. There is no shop floor, no counter, no pressure. Visits are by appointment so the conversation can be a proper one.

From €5,000 · most €10–20k

Commissions begin at around €5,000 and most settle between €10,000 and €20,000. There is no ceiling. The number always follows the brief, never the other way round.

What carries the name

Three things a Mallorca jeweller is asked for, and three things we do well.

Most people who find their way here are looking for one of three pieces. The microsite covers the headline; the full process and portfolio live at atelierbarnard.com.

01

Engagement rings

Solitaires, halos, three-stones, hidden-halo pavé, and pieces that do not look like anything else. Designed with you, set by Ian.

02

One-of-one commissions

Necklaces, earrings, signet rings, and pieces that begin with a stone the client already owns or a brief that will not sit on a shelf elsewhere.

03

Restoration

Heirloom pieces brought back to life — re-tipping, retipping worn settings, replacing missing stones, and the quiet repairs that keep something wearable for another generation.

The workshop

On Carrer de Sant Miquel, in the old town.

A short walk from Plaça Major, in the limestone heart of Palma. The workshop is small on purpose — one bench, one master, the tools the work requires and nothing for show. Clients arrive from the island, from across Europe, and from the harbour during the summer.

What is a Mallorca jeweller?

A Mallorca jeweller is a jeweller based on the Spanish island of Mallorca who designs and makes pieces locally. Atelier Barnard, on Carrer de Sant Miquel in Palma, is a bespoke Mallorca jeweller specialising in master diamond setting and one-of-one commissions for private clients.

Unlike a high-street shop, a bespoke Mallorca jeweller works by appointment, designs each piece around the client, and carries out the setting and finishing in-house. The workshop is small on purpose — one bench, one master.
